Suspected drug pusher servicing Felda areas arrested

KEMAMAN: A 42-year-old man was detained for alleged involvement in distributing drugs in Felda Neram Satu here, where various type of drugs worth RM20,000 were seized from him, yesterday.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Said Ibrahim said acting on a public tip-off, a team of policemen from the Kemaman Narcotics division was deployed to the scene at 3.30am.

Mohd Said said the suspect who had just stepped out from his Nissan Cefiro, was shocked after being cornered by policemen at the scene. The suspect tried to escape the scene but failed in his attempt.

"Checks found several types of drugs in his sling bag," he said.

Initial investigation showed the suspect was involved in distributing drugs at Felda areas in Kemaman and Kuantan for the past two months.

"Among the seizures were a plastic bag of heroin weighing 230 grammes with a street value of RM5,000, 100 grammes of syabu worth RM10,000, and 0.5 grammes of cannabis worth RM100," he said.

Also seized from the suspect was RM2,800 in cash.

He said the man was taken to the Kemaman police station for further investigations under Section 39B, Section 6 and Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for distributing the drugs, possessing cannabis and possessing heroin.

"The suspect is being remanded at the Kemaman police station until Feb 2, to assist police investigations," he said.
