ALOR STAR: A new list of Kedah executive council members will be revealed next week, said new Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah.
In confirming this, Bashah said he had personally finalised a list of exco members but it now needs to go through the procedure of receiving its stamp of approval from the Kedah palace.
"It will be next week...it is not an easy task because the exco list needs to obtain the endorsement of the Sultan of Kedah.
"We then need to determine a suitable date for Tuanku to grace the swearing-in ceremony of the exco members," said Bashah.
He was speaking to reporters after attending a Chinese New Year Open house hosted by developer Chin Hin Group Bhd deputy group executive chairman Datuk Chiau Beng Taik at Jalan Pegawai, here today.
Currently there are nine state exco members excluding the menteri besar. Bashah was sworn in as the new Kedah menteri besar on Feb 4 after Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir resigned from the post the previous day.
A majority of Kedah Umno leaders had on Jan 20 declared they had lost confidence in Mukhriz's leadership, which led to a two-week long stalemate in the state leadership.
