Penang FA lodges report over claims its officers involved in bookie activities

GEORGE TOWN: The Penang Football Association (PFA) has lodged a police over a social media account which on Tuesday allegedly made defamatory statements over its senior officers.

Penang FA member Kathderisan Letchumanam said the association regretted that the insulting and defamatory words had been spread to the public via Facebook and WhatsApp.

“This is not the first time such allegations had been hurled against us but what was posted in a Facebook account recently crossed the line; we feel it is a threat against the team.

“We hope police will carry out its investigation on the Facebook account holder responsible for the posting and take legal action against them,” he said when met outside the Northeast district police headquarters at Jalan Patani here today.

The Facebook account had claimed that four of the association's officers were involved in bookie activities and their weakness had cost the state team its position in the Super League.
