PUTRAJAYA: A female Immigration enforcement officer who allegedly hit a foreign worker during a raid is currently being investigated for misconduct.
Immigration Department director-general Datuk Seri Sakib Kusmi said the officer in question has also been transferred from the enforcement unit to the administration unit in Negri Sembilan.
He said they were still awaiting the outcome of the investigation.
“We will carry out a thorough investigation regarding this case.
“If the officer involved in the case did violate regulations, we will not hesitate to take disciplinary action based on the Public Officer Regulations (Conduct and Discipline) Amendment 2002,” he said in a statement today.
Sakib’s statement comes after a video surfaced of an Immigration officer assaulting a foreign worker, thought to be after a department operation.
Other foreigners were seen sitting on the floor during the attack. Another officer was also seen in the frame looking on as the assault took place.
The video was widely shared on social media.
