KUALA LUMPUR: The most anticipated Indonesian movie of the year, Ada Apa Dengan Cinta 2, has collected more than RM300,000 on the first day of its release yesterday, surpassing the overall collection of the original movie Ada Apa Dengan Cinta in 2002.
Its distributor Primeworks Distribution said in a statement today that the AADC2 is running in full capacity at cinemas and at least 25,000 people have viewed it.
The number is expected to increase over the weekend as some of the tickets for the weekend shows have already been sold out.
The romance drama stars Nicholas Saputra, Dian Sastrowardoyo, Adinia Wirasti, Titi Kamal, among others.
The six best selling Indonesian films in Malaysia to date are Ada Apa Dengan Cinta released on Feb 7, 2002 which collected RM341,029 at the box office, Eiffel I'm In Love (Nov 21, 2003 - RM1.3 million), Tentang Dia (April 28, 2005 - RM400,000), Ungu Violet (Aug 4, 2005 - RM500,000), Heart (Sept 7, 2006 - RM1.1 million) and Love Is Cinta (July 19, 2007 - RM700,000
