Selangor Zakat Board launches 'Kongsi Rezeki dengan Zakat' campaign

SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) today (November 27) launched the 'Kongsi Rezeki dengan Zakat' campaign as an encouragement and appeal to Muslims, especially in Selangor, to fulfill their zakat (tithe) obligation before the end of this year.

LZS chief executive officer Mohd Sabirin Mohd Sarbini said themed 'Sedikit Bagi Anda, Segalanya Buat Mereka', the campaign, to be held until December 31, is aimed at inviting eligible zakat contributors to help the needy asnaf.

"Through this campaign, the Muslim community can share zakat sustenance with the asnaf group in Selangor so that they can continue to survive in the current economic challenges, and further develop themselves and their families.

"To date, LZS has helped more than 68,000 families of the poor, hardcore poor and Muslim converts in Selangor," he told reporters after launching the campaign at the LZS headquarters here today (November 27).

Mohd Sabirin said LZS also invited the community to participate in its campaigns by offering various attractive prizes.

Among the campaigns are the 'Zakat Online On X On' specifically for zakat payers who payments through ezakatpay at fpx.zakatselangor.com.my and the 'Auto Kan Senang' campaign for individuals, traders and companies that have started to register monthly zakat payment through direct debit platform.

Meanwhile, Mohd Sabirin said more than RM735 million in zakat from 321,000 contributors in Selangor had been successfully collected as of October.

At the same event, three corporate companies handed over their business zakat with a total amount of RM252,971.59.

The companies are PWN Excellence Sdn Bhd (which handed over RM136,572.34), Agrobank Berhad (RM106,323.27) and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (RM10,075.98 ).

LZS also handed over zakat assistance amounting to RM17,660,556. – Bernama
