Standard Six boy riding motorcycle dies after being rammed by lorry

SHAH ALAM: A Standard Six pupil who was illegally riding a motorcycle was killed instantly when a lorry crashed into him.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Shafien Mamat said the 11-year-old was tailing his elder brother, also on a motorcycle, when he rammed by the lorry at a road junction in Kampung Budiman at 2.40pm.

The victim was identified as Muhamad Azim Osman from Jalan Haji Jalal, Kampung Budiman. He was a pupil at Sekolah Kebangsaan Meru 2 and suffered severe head and body injuries.

Shafien said further investigations showed that Azim was tailing his elder brother, who was also on a motorcycle ahead, and both were on their way home.

"Upon reaching the junction to turn into their house, the elder brother took a right while Azim was believed to have hesitated and took a left onto the main road instead.

"It was there that the lorry crashed into Azim. The lorry driver managed to brake after hitting Azim but fled the scene. A post mortem is expected to be carried out this evening," he said, adding that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1)(a) under the Road Transport Act 1987.
