SUNGAI SIPUT: A 39-year-old man has been found hung by the neck in the lockup of the district police here.
Deputy state police chief Datuk Hasnan Hassan said a policeman found the man hanging by a t-shirt at 12.10pm yesterday.
The man, who was arrested on May 2 for drugs, had been remanded until May 16.
"A medical personnel summoned from Sungai Siput Hospital confirmed the man's death," he said in a statement here.
"A post mortem conducted on the victim's remains confirmed his death was due to neck compression due to hanging," he added, noting that there were no other physical injuries found on the man.
Hasnan added that an inquiry was also held by a coroner at the Sungai Siput magistrate court.
"The man had four previous drug-related offences," said Hasnan, adding that the case had been classified as sudden death.
