Man fleeing from police on rooftop wanted for burglaries, drug offences

SHAH ALAM: A man seen in a viral video relentlessly evading arrest on the rooftop deck of a flat block in Shah Alam yesterday was wanted for several burglaries and drug cases.

Shah Alam police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the man was one of five suspects aged between 24 and 37 arrested by investigators in a raid at 12.03am midnight.

The suspects, four men and one female Thai national, tested positive for drugs, he added.

All of them have drug and criminal records, he said.

"The raid was conducted at the flat block where the suspects live. He (seen in video) tried to escape by climbing up to the rooftop deck of the flat block. However, they were all successfully arrested with the help of the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Department.

"My men had also confiscated various types of items from the burglaries they had committed as well as burglary tools and drugs.

"We are still probing the suspects. They have been actively involved in burglaries since early this year and so far, we found they had broken into three houses in Shah Alam," said Iqbal.

Iqbal said the suspects have been remanded for five days until Nov 15 and investigations are on-going under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
