Douglas Uggah wins in Bukit Saban

KUCHING: Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, 61, won the Bukit Saban seat in today’s 11th Sarawak state election by a majority of 4,599 votes.

The senior vice president II of PBB, who is said is slated for a Deputy Prime Minister post, obtained 5,524 votes while his opponent Noel Changgai Bucking of PKR, 925 votes.

This is the first time the Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister contested in the state election.

Uggah, who has been Betong MP for 30 years or seven terms since the 1986 general election, is no stranger to voters in Bukit Saban, which is in the Betong parliamentary constituency. -- BERNAMA
