MIC Youth lodges report over EGM ruckus

SUBANG JAYA: MIC Youth today lodged a police report against a group of people, allegedly supporters of former president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel, who caused a ruckus during the party's Emergency General Meeting (EGM), here, two days ago.

The report was lodged by MIC Youth information chief P. Punithan, who was accompanied by several other members this morning.

Punithan said the group that turned up uninvited at the EGM venue in One City, here, was led by four former MIC members, who allegedly planned to disrupt the EGM.

"MIC members are very disappointed by this group's presence and their actions outside the EGM hall.

"The group had wanted to disrupt our EGM from taking place, but they failed.

"We have video recordings and pictures of their actions, which will be handed over to police for investigation," he said when met after lodging the report.

He said the names of the four former MIC members were also included in the police report.

Punithan said the party was thankful to the police for their swift action in preventing further untoward incidents by deploying their Light Strike Force anti-riot personnel to the event.

It was reported that some 100 people caused a commotion outside the Grand Ballroom at One City, here, where the EGM was being held on Sunday.

The group was said to have shouted vulgar words in Tamil, while on the other side of the hall, a group comprising supporters of party president Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam sang MIC song and chanted "Subra power" and "Hidup Subra".
