Hishammuddin disappointed with Dr M's actions

KUALA KANGSAR: Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today expressed his disappointment over Tun Mahathir Mohamad's decision to openly campaign against Barisan Nasional (BN) in the Sungai Besar and Kuala Kangsar by-elections.

The Defence Minister said he did not understand why the former premier could make such a decision as he had been among the most respected leaders in BN.

"I am very sad with his (Dr Mahathir) action. However, I believe the people in Kuala Kangsar will not be influenced by his act.

"Young voters must reject politics of division and hatred and help preserve national unity," he told a press conference at Kampung Masjid near here.

He said the opposition pact had also ran out of ideas and were recycling old issues which had previously been explained by the government.
