Man flees after ramming car into petrol pumps

KUALA LUMPUR: A man beat a hasty exit after accidentally ramming his car into two petrol pumps in Bandar Sungai Long here early today.

Kajang police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nayan said the man is believed to have lost control of his vehicle before crashing into the two petrol pumps.

“No injury was reported. The man immediately fled the scene during the 7.10am incident,” he said.

Meanwhile, Kajang Fire and Rescue Department senior officer Misan Benu said eight firemen were dispatched to the petrol station after receiving an alert from members of the public.

“Upon arrival, the driver of the car was nowhere to be seen and the petrol station attendant informed us that the man fled the scene soon after the incident.

“The impact of the accident caused a fuel spillage, which forced the petrol station to halt its operation for more than an hour for a cleanup operation,” he said, adding that the team also found a mobile phone, believed to be owned by the man.

Misan added that the phone was handed over to the policemen for further action.
