(MMA) Keanu Subba raring to get back into the cage

KUALA LUMPUR: Highly promising featherweight fighter Keanu Subba is eager to get back in the cage after the disappointment of being forced to withdraw from his fight against Singaporean Christian Lee in February due to injury.

Keanu has a chance to do just that and continue his winning streak when he faces China's Li Kai Wen at ONE Championship's Dynasty of Champions on July 2.

The 21-year-old dislocated and tore a ligament in his right elbow during a training session in the run up to the fight against Christian but stresses that he has made a positive recovery and is ready for the fight.

Kai Wen, who has a record of five wins and three losses, went down to Australian Martin Nguyen in his last fight but will have home ground advantage as the event will be held at the HEFEI Olympic Sports Centre in China.

"I worked very hard to get into the best shape of my life for the (Christian Lee) fight. When I went down with an injury, it was tough," said Keanu.

"Unfortunately that's how it is in mixed martial arts but I have healed well and the doctor has given me permission to fight.

"I have definitely been itching to get back in the cage.

"I have been studying a lot of (fight) films and have tried to incorporate what I have learnt from various fighters into my own game.

"I'm growing and learning everyday and I will showcase it in China."

Keanu, who is the younger brother of Malaysian mixed martial arts star Gianni, won his last three bouts against Sabahan Rayner Kinsiong, Frenchman Florian Garel and Donald Tong of Hong Kong.
