KUALA LUMPUR: An army corporal was hauled to the Ampang Sessions Court here today for allegedly raping a 26-year-old woman a week ago.
Mohd Zulkarnain Abdul Razak, 36, pleaded not guilty to committing the offence before judge Azrul Darus today.
The father of one was accused of committing the offence inside a bedroom of the Taman Dagang flats in Ampang here at 3.30pm on July 12.
In pleading for minimum bail, counsel S.Purnima said her client was the sole breadwinner of his family and if he was not bailed, the family would be in a grave situation.
'He has a child and wife to take care of and he is also taking care of his parents," she said.
The judge fixed RM12,000 bail and fixed Aug 25 for mention.
Deputy public prosecutor Goh Ai Rene prosecuted.
