Media Prima distributes flood aid to Sarawakians

KUCHING: Media Prima Bhd (MPB), in collaboration with local authorities, handed out donations to 957 families whose homes were damaged by floods which hit the state about six months ago.

The donations were from the NSTP-Media Prima Disaster Fund, which accepts contribution from the public to lessen the burden of victims.

The families were flood victims from 17 housing estates devastated by the wet spell that wreaked havoc in the areas in February this year.

Present to monitor the distribution of the donation were Works Minister and Petra Jaya Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, as well as Tupong assemblyman Fazruddin Abdul Rahman.

Also in attendance were MPB Corporate Communications Department group general manager Azlan Abdul Aziz, who led a 12-member team from the MPB-NSTP volunteer bridgade.

On behalf of recipients, Fadillah extended his appreciation to the media group and the public for their generosity in helping the flood victims.

He said the setting up of the disaster fund and the distribution of the donation reflected MPB's concern for society.

"I hope more corporate firms would emulate the initiative taken by MPB to help the victims of natural disasters," he said.
