Two charged with seeking and providing support for IS [VIDEO]

KLANG: Two suspects who have alleged ties with the Islamic State (IS) terror group were charged at the Magistrates Court here today.

The duo were each charged with two counts of seeking and giving support to the terror group.

Mohmad Zaini Mohmad Isa and Roshelmyzan Husain both nodded their heads as a sign of understanding when the charges were read out to them before Magistrate Nor Asma Ahmad.

No plea was recorded.

On the first count, Mohmad Zaini was charged with supporting the IS terror group. For the second count, he was charged with providing refuge to an IS member named, Junios Ondie or known as Jahali.

He was accused of committing the crime between March 25 and June 30, at Teluk Gadong Kecil and in Pulau Indah.

Roshelmyzan meanwhile, was charged with seeking support for IS through the Telegram chat application, as well as for possessing several items that bear IS influences.

He committed the act between March 25 and June 29, at Teluk Kapas and in Bandar Sultan Suleiman.

Both were charged under various sections, including Section 130J (1)(a), 130K (a), 130 (1)(a), and 130JB (1)(a) of the Penal Code.

Nor Asma denied bail for the men and fixed the next mention on Sept 7. The case will be transferred to the High Court.

Deputy public prosecutor Syed Farid Syed Ali appeared for the prosecution while both suspects were unrepresented.
