Three arrested for drug offences at Cheras roadblock

KUALA LUMPUR: Three men were arrested for drug-related offences at a roadblock along the Cheras-Kajang Highway (Grand Saga) today.

Kajang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Othman Nanyan said the operation was conducted between midnight and 6am.

“The motorcyclists tested positive for amphetamine.

“The operation also saw the arrest of a man, who was wanted under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 (for taking drugs),” he said in a statement.

The six-hour operation, spearheaded by Othman, also saw police issue a total of 195 summonses to the offenders.

“A total of 73 summonses were issued to motorcyclists who did not have valid licenses, 40 for non-regulation vehicle plates, 24 for expired road taxes, and 17 for broken side mirrors,” he said.

Other offences included underage motorcyclists, driving without insurance, not displaying new driver pass plates (P or L stickers) and modifying motorcycles.
