(Showbiz) 'I've never been married, never hid it from Fara Fauzana'

KUALA LUMPUR: Mohamed Hafiz Badiuzzaman, the businessman who was supposed to wed popular host Farah Fauzana Mohd Fadzil, today issued a statement on the cancellation of their wedding.

In a WhatsApp message distributed to the Press, Hafiz apologised to those affected by the news and hoped that they are granted with patience and strength to endure these difficult times.

Instead of focusing on the details of the wedding cancellation, he however, pointed out that a news report published by a local daily yesterday, is libelous and inaccurate.

“I would like to refute the libelous accusation levelled against me... in the report, the writer quotes a source alleging: I am or was married; I had kept my marital status a secret from Farah Fauzana; and that the marital status was the reason that the wedding was called off by Farah Fauzana,” he said in the statement.

“I would like to clarify... I was never married; I had never kept my marital status a secret from Farah Fauzana; and my marital status was not the reason that the wedding was called off.

“The reason why the wedding was called off is only best known to Farah,” he said.

According to the statement, “The publishing of this libellous accusation without properly verifying the information has caused irreparable disrepute to my good standing in society and in the business community, and unnecessary emotional distress and damage to both myself and my immediate family members.”

Hafiz also pointed out that there were other inaccuracies in the report such as his age reported as 38, whereas he is only turning 30 this year.

“There are so many inaccuracies some bordering on libel; I will not address all of them,” said Hafiz.

He said the reason why he was absent from the press conference for the wedding announcement held on Aug 1 was based on a mutual agreement with Farah, done to protect his and his family’s privacy.
