KUALA LUMPUR: Pas spiritual leader Datuk Dr Haron Din has died today due to heart complications, his party announced. He was 76.
Pas information chief Nasrudin Hassan said they received the news of his passing at 10.10am.
"Tuan Guru has passed away in Stanford University Hospital, United States. May Allah bless his soul, forgive his sins and place him among the pious.
"We will wait for further updates from his family," he said in a statement today.
Haron left for San Francisco, US to undergo heart treatment several days ago and had slipped into a coma last night.
It was learnt that Haron had left for the US several days ago to get further treatment on his heart problem.
Due to his critical condition, Haron had been admitted into the intensive care unit and was on life support.
Last March, he was admitted to the National Heart Institute after complaining of chest pains.
In April 2012, Haron had undergone a heart bypass surgery at the same hospital in San Francisco.
