GEORGE TOWN: A pedestrian was killed after being run down by a van while crossing the road at Jalan Bukit Gambir here this morning.
Raja Noorlian Kamar Raja Busu, 56, from Taman Bukit Jambul here was pronounced dead by a doctor at the scene.
Northeast district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mior Faridalatrash Wahid said the van, driven by a 39 year-old from Kuala Pegang, Baling, was heading from Jalan Yap Chor Ee towards Jalan Tun Dr Awang.
The case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act.
