Year One pupil struck by car in front of school dies

MALACCA: A seven-year-old girl who was hit by a car in front of her school in SK Pegoh in Alor Gajah yesterday, died this afternoon.

Hani Harizah Hafizal, succumbed to serious body and head injuries at 2.55pm at the Malacca Hospital.

Hani Harizah was struck by a car driven by a woman near the school entrance about 1pm, just after the Year One pupil had just finished classes.

She was rushed to the Malacca Hospital.

Alor Gajah district police chief Superintendent A. Asmadi Abd Aziz confirmed the girl's death and said the case is now being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless driving.

"The woman, a housewife was not under the influence of alcohol when she was behind the wheel.

"We will also continue our investigations on whether to charge her in court or not," he said.
