KUALA LUMPUR: Wanita Umno has urged for the government to expedite works to finalise the Political Donations and Expenditure Act (PDEA), to ensure that those who collude with foreign powers be brought to book.
Wanita Umno chief Tan Sri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil, in her winding up speech, said the PDEA has become more crucial with the revelation that media outlets and non-governmental organisations were being funded by American-Hungarian business magnate George Soros.
“Wanita will be the fortress to shield the country against foreign intervention, and we urge that the PDEA be finalised to ensure that those who conspire with these foreign powers are brought to justice," she said.
Shahrizat also restated the wing's undivided support for party president Datuk Seri Najib Razak. She said Wanita, as the backbone of the party, had adapted the concept of wala' (obedience) ever since the wing's inception 69 years ago.
“We've never budged, despite challenges and obstacles. We remain loyal to the pillar of our struggles.
“Wanita will be loyal to our president, our bond of loyalty remains strong."
