Isham's dismissal finalised by Supreme Council, no need for further investigation, says Zahid

KUALA LUMPUR - The sacking of Hizatul Isham Jalil from Umno last night is an unequivocal decision, says party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

He said it was a decision made and finalised by the council and did not require an investigation by the party's disciplinary board.

This, he said in response to Isham's claim that Umno's top leadership dismissed him without being tried by the board.

"This is because the Disciplinary Committee also needs to refer to the Supreme Council eventually, which makes the decision (dismissal).

"So, what was decided (Isham's dismissal) by Umno's Supreme Council is a final decision," he said after attending the official signing ceremony between MYEG and Guangxi Beibu Gulf Investment Group, followed by the launching of ZCert.

When questioned whether the action against Isham serves as a warning to critics of Umno and its president, Zahid clarified that criticising the president directly is not a primary consideration for disciplinary action.

However, he emphasised that insulting the party and demeaning Umno as an organisation warrants action to prevent disruptions to internal harmony.

Asked again whether this dismissal would harm the party in the long run, he responded succinctly: "Individuals engaging in such behaviour within Umno could be more damaging in the long run."
