DNC Asiatic Holdings Sdn Bhd, a motorcycle and transportation equipment manufacturer, has been appointed as the sole distributor for MV Agusta motorcycles in the country.

“All models available on the official MV Agusta website will be assembled and sold in Malaysia, including the limited edition models and the Lewis Hamilton Dragster RR,” said MV Agusta Motor SpA Far East country manager Judah Sangaran at a press conference after the signing ceremony at DNC Asiatic Holdings plant in Olak Lempit, Banting, Selangor.

The agreement was signed by MV Agusta Motor SpA and DNC Asiatic Holdings to mark the collaboration of both parties for the exclusive distribution rights of MV Agusta motorcycles and its related products in Malaysia.

MV Agusta is a renowned Italian motorcycle manufacturer producing a wide range of motorcycles, from supersport, naked bikes to sport touring motorcycles. Currently, MV Agusta competes in the World Superbike Championship with its F4 RC 1000cc superbike and the World Supersport Championship with its F3 675 three-cylinder sportbike.

Models that are in MV Agusta's lineup are the F4, F3, Brutale, Brutale Dragster, Rivale, Stradale and Turismo Veloce.

Sangaran said last year in Asia Pacific, which included Australia and New Zealand, the company sold 1,497 units of the MV Agusta motorcycles. About 400 units were sold in its biggest market in Australia, while Japan was its second biggest customer.

“We believe with this new distributorship, we will do better than before,” he added.

DNC's subsidiary Demak Group will be assembling the motorcycles, while another subsidiary Moto Varese Asiatic will embark on promotional activities to promote the MV Agusta brand.

Meanwhile, DNC plans to set up three exclusive showrooms for MV Agusta motorcycles with 3S centres providing provide sales, service and spare parts for MV Agusta by end of next year.

“Each centre would cost at least half a million ringgit. The first showroom which is expected to be ready by first quarter of 2017, is located in Batu Caves, Selangor.

“We are looking at having the similar facilities in Penang and Johor Baru by end of next year,” said Moro Varese Asiatic Sdn Bhd managing director Muhamad Zamry Abu Samah.
