When will it end? 3 fatal traffic accidents for 3 consecutive days in Kota Tinggi

KOTA TINGGI: The Kota Tinggi district recorded three fatal accidents involving four vehicles in three separate locations for three consecutive days since Thursday.

Kota Tinggi police chief Supt Rahmat Othman said the first accident involved GiatMara student Mohd Alif Hashim, 21, at Km6 of Jalan Lok Heng-Mawai at about 1.55am today.

It occurred when Mohd Alif, who was driving a Perodua Myvi from Kota Tinggi towards his home in Simpang Waha Felda scheme, lost control of his car.

"We believe the car skidded to the right of the road, before crashing into the right curb and overturning," he said in a statement today.

"As a result of the accident, the victim, who was sandwiched in the driver's seat, died at the scene because of severe injuries to his body," he said.

Rahmat said the accident site was in a jungle area with no street lights.

The second accident involved a female motorcycle pillion rider, aged 15, at Km0.5 of Jalan Bandar Penawar-Punggai, near a shoplot area on Saturday.

Nuraysyah Fiera Syamsul, from Taman Rinting, Masai, died after receiving three hours of treatment at Kota Tinggi Hospital (HKT).

In the 5.30pm accident, Nuraysyah was riding a motorcycle with a friend, Adnani Jaini, 32, from the direction of Desaru heading to Penawar.

The motorcycle suddenly skidded and fell, before colliding into the rear of a Honda CRV driven by technician Joseph Anak Duli.

"Nuraysyah suffered serious injuries on her legs and neck, and was sent to the HKT for treatment before she was confirmed dead at about 8.30pm," said Rahmat.

In the third accident, motorcyclist Mohd Shahrin Rabu, 23, died two days after receiving treatment at the Sultan Ismail Hospital from severe bleeding in his head and neck.

Mohd Shahrin and his friend, Mohd Razlan Razli, 23, were riding a motorcycle which hit a pothole on Jalan Perindustrian Bandar Penawar-Kota Tinggi, causing both to fall off their machine.

The three cases are being investigated under Section 41(1) of the road Transport Act 1987. --BERNAMA
