Newly-married woman killed, husband injured in single-vehicle Perak accident

TAIPING: A newly-married woman died while her husband was injured after their car skidded and rammed a road divider at Km200.9 of the North-South Expressway (north bound) near Gunung Semanggol yesterday.

Kamunting Fire and Rescue Station chief Taufiq Abdul Satar said Nur Fazlina Fazil, 25, was brought to the Taiping Hospital where she died at 10pm, while her husband, Muhammad Hisyamuddin Yunus, 25, suffered slight injuries.

"The couple from Ipoh, who just got married on Saturday, were on their way back to Kulim, Kedah," he said.

Taufiq said the station received an emergency call about the incident at 3.04pm and a team rushed to the scene.

"When we arrived at the location, our crew found that the woman passenger had been thrown out of the vehicle which was at the side of a drain, while the driver suffered slight injuries.

"Our firefighters gave emergency treatment to the victim who was badly injured and brought her in our vehicle to the Taiping Hospital," he said.

Firefighters also found RM8,000 in cash belonging to the victims in the car and had handed over the money to the police. -- Bernama
