Woman killed, Felda manager husband serious injured when car plunges off bridge

LIPIS: The wife of a Felda manager was killed when the car they were in skidded and crashed through a barrier before plunging off a bridge yesterday.

Azlina Mohamed, 45, died at the scene while her 50-year-old husband Nazaruddin Abdullah, a manager at Felda Sungai Koyan 1, sustained serious injuries in the 6.50pm incident.

District police chief Superintendent Azli Mohd Noor said the couple were on their way from Raub towards Sungai Koyan when the incident occurred at Km2 Jalan Sungai Koyan-Raub.

"Initial investigations revealed that the Perodua Kancil (driven by Nazaruddin) was believed to gone out of control, skidded and crashed through the barrier on the bridge before plunging below.

"As a result, Nazaruddin sustained head injuries and was taken to Kuala Lipis Hospital for further treatment, while his wife died at the scene," he said in a statement today.

Azli added that the case was being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless and dangerous driving.
