Fire-Rescue van, car with college students, collide in N. Sembilan; 1 dead, 10 injured

KUALA PILAH: An 18-year-old student of Juasseh Vocational College was killed and 10 others were seriously injured after the car they were travelling in collided with a van carrying Fire and Rescue Department personnel at Jalan Kuala Pilah–Bahau near Jemapoh R&R here today.

In the 7.55am incident, Fauzi Ali died at the scene, while three of his friends – Fauzan Jailani (the car driver), Aidil Shamsudin and Haidir Hamzah, all aged 18, suffered serious injuries after their Nissan collided head-on with a van belonging to the Jempol Fire and Rescue Department.

The accident also left all seven Fire and Rescue personnel travelling in the van with serious injuries.

Kuala Pilah Fire and Rescue Department’s operations officer said a team was deployed to the scene after it received an emergency call at 7.58am.

"When we arrived, all the victims had been brought out from the vehicles by members of the public.

“(But) we took about five minutes to extricate the Nissan driver, who was stuck in his seat," he said.

“The Fire and Rescue Department personnel were on their way to Seremban 2 to attend a futsal tournament when the incident occurred.

“All victims have been sent to the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah Hospital for treatment," he added.
