PJ man charged with breaking wife's nose, battering two daughters

PETALING JAYA: A lorry driver claimed trial in the lower courts yesterday to domestic violence and gross indecency.

On the first charge, the man, aged 37, is accused of hitting and injuring his three-year-old daughter with a table at a house in Lembah Subang here at 5pm on Feb 5.

He faces up to 10 years in jail, or a fine, or whipping, or any two of the punishments if convicted, under Section 324 of the Penal Code.

On the second charge, he is accused of voluntarily causing hurt to his stepdaughter, aged 14, and on the third charge, of exposing his genitals to her at the same place, time and date.

If convicted, he faces up to one year’s jail, or a fine of up to RM2,000 or both, under Section 323 of the Penal Code, and the maximum two years’ imprisonment under Section 377D of the same Code, respectively.

Magistrate Salamiah Salleh set RM7,000 as bail for the three charges and March 20 for remention.

The man was also charged in the sessions court with voluntarily causing grievous hurt to his wife, aged 32, by hitting and breaking her nose with a piece of wood from a table at a house in Lembah Subang here at 5pm on Feb 5.

He faces up to 40 years in prison and is liable to whipping, if convicted, under Section 326 of the Penal Code, punishable under Section 326A of the same Code.

The Court set bail at RM15,000, with the additional condition that he is forbidden from approaching the victims in any way, and to report to the nearest police station once a month pending disposal of the case. --BERNAMA
