Ex-convict goes back to jail after dressing up as woman to steal from surau

PETALING JAYA: A man who was caught clad in a woman's attire while stealing at a surau in Subang Jaya was sentenced to eight months jail by the magistrate's court today.

Magistrate Atiqah Abd Karim handed down the sentence on Mohamad Firdaus Abdullah, 21, after the accused pleaded guilty to the offence.

She ordered for the accused's sentence to run from today.

Firdaus was charged with stealing 22-year-old Nur Damia Syahirah Rany's purse at a women's prayer room at the 1st floor of Sunway Pyramid shopping centre about 9.40pm on Feb 18.

He was wearing a black burqa and applied make-up to his face when he committed the offence.

It was widely reported that the accused was caught by the mall's police and that the suspect had just been released from Kajang Prison.
