CCTV recording sheds light into transgender's brutal murder: Pahang police

KUANTAN: A closed circuit television (CCTV) recording obtained by police has revealed that three people were involved in the attack and brutal murder of a transgender woman in Jalan Pasar here recently.

This was confirmed by Pahang Criminal Investigations Department chief Datuk Raja Shahrom Raja Abdullah today as he related the progress of the probe into the case.

On Feb 23, Sameera Krishnan, 26, whose legal name was K. Selamparasan was found dead with a gunshot wound and five of her fingers severed, possibly hacked with parang, in Jalan Pasar. She was said to have gone out at 3am to buy food.

Shahrom said the CCTV recording was obtained from a camera near the crime scene.

He said police were still trying to identify the attackers captured by the camera.

"The recording did not clearly show the assailants' identities. It only showed three individuals attacking the victim.

"We are investigating all possibilities. As of now, we have taken statements from four people to assist our investigations," he said when contacted today.

An English daily reported that she was the main witness in her own kidnapping case, which had been set for hearing at the Shah Alam court early next month.

It also said in the 2015 case, Sameera was rescued by police when her captors’ car was involved in an accident with another vehicle at the Sungai Rasau toll plaza near Klang, Selangor.
