Bad attitude: Seremban resident unhappy with people dumping sofas, mattresses in his area

A long-TIME Seremban resident laments the attitude of many who have been dumping rubbish, posing a health hazard and creating an eyesore.

Mohd Rashdan Jamaluddin, who wrote to Actionline, said although the Seremban Municipal Council had been cleaning the township regularly, he was upset with some of the residents.

“I’ve lived in Seremban since the 1970s, and am impressed with the swift action carried out by the council to care for the town and its residents.

“However, despite your good efforts, the challenges seem to be ever growing as the township expands to accommodate new residents, who may have just moved in and are trying to adapt to the quiet and laidback lifestyle of Seremban.

“Regretfully, some of these new residents (and even existing ones) do not seem to care as much, and, so, we see rubbish dumped indiscriminately.

“In my neighbourhood, there are two spots where neighbours have dumped sofas and mattress , and debris from house renovations, without regard to other residents.

“MPS should place a big dumpster for residents to throw discarded furniture.

“If they still fail to keep the place clean, strict enforcement must be implemented and residents slapped with compounds or summonses.”

ACTIONLINE:

An MPS spokesman says the complaint has been forwarded to Perbadanan Pengurusan Sisa Pepejal dan Pembersihan Awam (SWCorp), which will clear the spots.

“MPS no longer handles illegal dumping sites as we have handed over the responsibility to SWCorp.”
