JOHOR BARU: A former Johor MIC leader has called DAP adviser Lim Kit Siang a hypocrite for urging Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin to go on leave in the wake of the real estate corruption scandal that is currently under investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
Former Johor MIC Youth chief S. Deva said that Lim’s opinion on the case was laughable as DAP itself do not practice what it preach as seen in a corruption scandal that involved the top leadership in the DAP-led Penang government.
“He should not be hypocritical in this matter because everybody knows that his son Lim Guan Eng, the Penang Chief Minister, has also been connected with a corruption scandal where he was investigated and arrested by MACC,” said Deva in a statement.
Deva said that unlike the DAP-led Penang government, the Johor government under Barisan Nasional approached the MACC investigation in a transparent and honourable manner.
He said state executive councillor, linked to two suspects detained in the corruption case, went on leave from his duties in the state government.
“Johor exco member Datuk Abd Latif Bandi took the mature and professional approach to voluntarily go on leave so that the MACC can conduct a thorough investigation even though the one being investigated is his son, and not him,” said Deva.
He said this was the attitude of a true Johorean who is not afraid to face adversity in finding the truth.
“If they are guilty, then charge them in court. If not, don’t simply make accusations,” he said, adding that Lim is not qualified to make any statements regarding the case.
