Suspect arrested in Ipoh bride-to-be death; Victim died from stab wounds

IPOH: Police here believe they have solved a murder case less than five hours after it was first reported.

The arrest of a 34-year-old man here is believed to be related to the suspicious death of a bride-to-be at Taman Dato' Lew Yap Sip, Ampang, here early today.

Ipoh police chief Assistant Commissioner Sum Chang Keong said the suspect was remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code and further investigation is being carried out.

''A post-mortem on the victim's body was carried out this morning, and the result showed that the cause of death was excessive bleeding from stab wounds,'' Sum said.

Police also found burn marks in the victim's bedroom, where her body was discovered.

However, no murder weapon was seized or found at the scene.

It was reported earlier that the victim, Hamidah Abdul Rahman, 53, was found dead in the bedroom of her house with a wound on her back.

She was discovered by her 17-year-old daughter.
