Indah Water worker finds dead foetus stuck in sewage pond

GEORGE TOWN: An Indah Water worker stumbled upon a dead foetus at a sewage pond trap near an apartment block in Batu Maung, police said today.

Southwest district police chief Superintendent Anuar Omar said initial investigations showed the foetus to be about seven months old.

"We believe it is a male but have sent it to the Balik Pulau Hospital for further verification.

"We urged the public to come forward to assist in our investigations," he said.

The worker, identified only as Abdullah, 42, said he was surprised to find the dead foetus near the trap about 12.15pm.

He said he initial thought it was a doll until he tried to take it out, fearing that it might damage the machines there.

"I panicked and immediately told my colleague to alert the police." he added.
