Drug dealer in Kemaman arrested after scuffle with policemen

KEMAMAN: A 27-year-old drug trafficker was arrested at a house in Rumah Murah Bukit Keluang, here, after a brief scuffle with policemen on Monday.

The man was found with 1,070 Eramin 5 pills worth RM16,050, 225 grammes of heroin worth RM11,250, as well RM13,280 in cash, believed to be proceeds from his drug dealing.

District police chief Superintendant Mohd Said Ibrahim said police also seized a Rado watch worth RM3,000 and a Proton Waja from the suspect.

Police had observed his activities for two weeks before moving in to arrest him.

The drugs were found in a bag in the suspect's room

"The suspect was taken to the Chukai police station for further investigation under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drug Act 1952 for drug-trafficking," he told a press conference at the Kemaman police station yesterday.

Said said the suspect, from Bukit Kuang, tested negative for drugs. He is believed to have distributed drugs around the Kijal area for the past two years.

He said the suspect, stunned by police presence at 3am at his house, had tried to escape.

"A small scuffle ensued but our men managed to overpower him," he said.
