A movie worth watching

A BIG brouhaha ensued over Disney’s Beauty and The Beast recently.

Yet, a small local production based on the life and sacrifices of Malaysia’s most decorated
soldier, former Warrant Officer (I) Kanang anak Langkau has been largely ignored by the public.

I went to watch the movie, Kanang Anak Langkau, The Iban Warrior, last Friday.

Of course, I was not expecting anything like a Michael Bay or Ridley Scott movie, but it should be on the same level with Bukit Kepong.

I was not disappointed.

This movie is about an Iban warrior who had dedicated a large part of his life to serving the nation.

Yet, you don’t see this movie being advertised.

Only a few local groups have promoted the movie.

The main protagonist, Kanang, was portrayed by his son, Langgi anak Kanang, who is now with the Malaysian Armed Forces Royal Artillery Regiment.

It is about the man himself. His values, his love for the country, his family, and his camaraderie in the army.

If a role model is what you are looking for, then this movie’s main character provides a good one. I recommend a watch.
