Two friends killed after crashing into stationary lorry

TEMERLOH: Two friends were killed when the four-wheel-drive vehicle they were travelling in crashed into the rear of a lorry parked on the emergency lane at Km113 of the East Coast Highway near Mentakab today.

Toyota Hilux driver Eng Jaa Jaan, 19, and front seat passenger Lai Kok Mun, 32, both from Kuala Lumpur died on the spot in the 6.30am accident.

Mentakab fire and rescue department operation commander Tajuden Ibrahim said initial investigations revealed that Eng had lost control of his vehicle before he hit the stationed broken down lorry.

"Some passing motorist alerted the Fire and Rescue department before firemen took about an hour to extricate the victims who were trapped in the mangled vehicle. The lorry driver escaped unhurt," he said.
