T'ganu man suspected of sexually molesting 3-year-old daughter

KUALA TERENGGANU: A 3-year-old girl suspected of having been sexually molested by her father will be referred to the Children’s Interview Centre (CIC) in Kuantan, Pahang.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Idris Abdul Rafar said as the victim is only three years old, further investigation is needed in the case.

Idris said besides interviewing the little girl, female officers from the Sexual Investigation Division Department could help reduce the trauma she is suffering.

He said the 30-year-old father, from Chendering here, was picked up on Tuesday – the same day a report was lodged by the victim's mother.

"However, the suspect was released on police bail pending further investigation," Idris said today.

On Monday morning, the girl’s 31-year-old mother was shocked when her daughter informed her that her father had molested her by fondling her body and touching her inappropriately.

The girl had been spending a weekend with the suspect at his home in Chendering.

The mother removed her daughter from the house the next day, and, fearing for her safety, drove all the way to Kuala Terengganu police station to lodge the report.
