Man nabbed at KLIA with 3.8kg of cocaine worth RM1 mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Police seized 3.8kg of cocaine worth over RM1 million from a man returning from a trip to Africa at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on May 12.

Deputy Commander Special Tactical Intelligence Narcotics Group (Sting) Senior Assistant Commissioner Arjunaidi Mohamed said the drugs were brought in by the 22-year-old man in a hand carry bag.

He is believed to be a drug mule for an international drug chain syndicate.

"Based on police investigation, the drugs (were destined for) a neighbouring country.

"The man is under remand for seven days from the day of his arrest," said Arjunaidi at a press conference at the Federal Police Headquarters here today.

He added that the seizure is the first major drug bust in the country this year.

The case is being investigated under Section 39(b) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
