Manager loses RM8,000 to snatch thieves in Kuala Terengganu

KUALA TERENGGANU: A 32-year-old manager lost about RM8,000 after two men on a motorcycle made off with his sling bag on the pretext of asking for direction.

According to a source, the victim was walking alone from the Kuala Terengganu Bus Terminal towards a nearby rest house in Kampung Sri Ladang here on Sunday, when two suspects on a Honda EX5 approached him in the 4.30pm incident.

The source said they stopped the victim to ask him for direction when one of them suddenly pointed a knife at the victim before grabbing his sling bag.

It is learnt that the victim was in Kuala Terengganu on a business trip and the money was meant to pay the workers their salaries.

The victim then lodged a report at the Kuala Terengganu police station.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Idris Abdul Rafar, who confirmed the case, said police are investigating the incident under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
