Sandakan Police intensify anti-crime rounds

SANDAKAN: The district police here has intensified crime prevention operations to nip criminals and their activities in the bud.

An early operation by the authorities yesterday, here, focused at township, housing areas, and vehicles.

During the operation between 1am and 5am, police inspected several suspicious individuals and nabbed two foreign men aged 18 and 21.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azhar Hamin said police arrested a man for behaving suspiciously at 3.30am in Bandar Labuk Jaya, Batu 7.

“He tried to flee and upon further inspection, the man had no identity.

“An hour later, police nabbed another man near Flat Batu 2 1/2 and seized three packets of syabu, a CD player, scissor, a preamplifier unit, a wallet, and cash,” he said.

Mohd Azhar said the CD player, preamplifier, and cash were stolen from a mini bus parked nearby the area.

Both men had no criminal record but were tested positive for drugs.

“We are carrying out this daily operation aggressively at crime-prone areas to prevent crime from taking place.

“We urge the community to assist police in looking after the safety of the people and surrounding by channelling information so police personnel can be mobilised immediately,” he said.
