Woman, ex-husband arrested in series of schools break-ins

BESUT: A woman and her ex-husband were arrested in connection with break-ins and theft cases in Terengganu and Kelantan on Wednesday.

District police chief Superintendent Mohd Zamri Mohd Rowi said a team of policemen raided a house in Taman Desa Saujana, Padang Luas, Jertih in "Ops Pintu" at 5pm.

Zamri said the 23-year-old suspect and her 26-year-old ex-husband were suspected to be involved in more than five cases of thefts at colleges and schools.

He said during the raid, police seized various stolen items from the couple for further investigation.

"Among the items confiscated were several units of laptops, cameras, mobile phones, important documents, rings, and gold bangles," he said today.

"Initial probes revealed that the couple could be linked to break-ins at SK Tempinis, SK Pusat Jertih, Maktab Rendah Sains Mara (MRSM) Kota Putera, Institut Pendidikan Guru Sultan Mizan campus, all in Besut, and Sekolah Menengah Sains Pasir Putih in Kelantan," he added.

He said they have been remanded for further probe at the Besut police station under Section 379 and Section 457 for theft and break-in.
