Money changer loses RM150k to robbers along KL-Seremban Highway

KAJANG: A staff at a money changer sustained injuries when he was robbed of RM152,250 in foreign currency by four armed men along the Kuala Lumpur- Seremban Highway on Monday.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Ahmad Dzaffir Yusoff said the incident occurred around 1.25pm when the victim, 20, and his colleague left the company in Bukit Bintang to Kipmall Bandar Baru Bangi with the money.

“The victim was intercepted by two men armed with a parang and an axe on a motorcycle on the highway.

“The duo tried to switch off the victim’s motorcycle but failed, they then kicked him off the vehicle,” he said.

Dzaffir said the victim fell and two more men approached with a scooter and snatched the bag with the cash.

He said victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at Kajang Hospital.

He added the case has been classified as armed gang robbery under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code and police are tracing the suspects.
