Decomposing body of man with head, internal organs missing discovered in Penang

BUKIT MERTAJAM: The headless, decomposing body of an unidentified man was found in a drain under a pile of garbage at Lorong Perindustrian Bukit Minyak 19, Bukit Tengah here on Friday.

In addition to the head, the body’s internal organs were also missing and seemed to have been intentionally removed.

The remains were found by a passerby, who wanted only to be identified as Shahrul, 20, after he detected a strong smell in the area at about 6.30pm.

“Initially, I thought it was the smell of a dead animal. But upon closer inspection, (I saw) the headless body in the drain. I was shocked and immediately contacted the police,” he said.

Police said they are not ruling out the possibility that the unidentified man is a murder victim, and that, based on the removal of the head and internal organs, his slaying could have been the work of professional killers.

The body was taken to the Seberang Jaya Hospital for a post-mortem.

When contacted, Seberang Perai Tengah district police chief ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid confirmed the case, and said that police are awaiting the autopsy report. – BERNAMA
