Newborn found near Port Klang jetty died of premature birth: Police

PORT KLANG: A post mortem carried out on the body of a baby girl, found dead near Asa Niaga Barter Trade jetty yesterday, showed that she died of premature birth.

Klang Selatan police chief Assistant Commissioner Shamsul Amar Ramli said the report also showed that the victim was about five-month old.

“The post-mortem was conducted at the Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR) Klang. The foetus weighs 238 grams and we believe the mother had given birth to her two days ago.

“There were also signs of injuries due to fish bites while in the water,” he said.

Members of the public spotted the body of the baby at 10.30am, yesterday.

A report was subsequently lodged by an Asa Niaga auxiliary policeman.

The case is being investigated under Section 318 of the Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body.
