Police hunt for 4 men with links to IS

KUALA LUMPUR: Police are on the hunt for four men, including a father and son duo, believed to be members of an Islamic State (IS) militant group planning to launch attacks at non-Muslims’ places of worships and the police.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Mohamad Fuzi Harun said six IS militant members from the same cell were arrested by the Federal police Special Branch Counter-Terrorism Division (SB-CTD) in Johor between Feb 27 and Mar 1.

"However, there are four members of the cell still at large. Police are on lookout for the men as they are capable to launch attacks that would jeopardise national security," he said in a statement today.

They are Muhamad Faizal Muhamad Hanafi, 29, and his father, Muhamad Hanafi Yah, 51, both from Kampung Ketil Pengkalan Kubor, Tumpat, Kelantan; Nor Farkhan Mohd Isa, 31, from No.18 Jalan Nakhoda 21, Taman Ungku Aminah, Skudai, Johor, and Awae Wae-Eya, 31, from Narathiwat, Thailand.

"Those with information on the men can contact SB-CTD investigating officer at 017-6727120 or channel the information to their nearest police station to facilitate investigation.

"Anyone found hiding, abetting or protecting the four men can be charged under Section 130M, 130K and 130L of the Penal Code," he said.
