Duo living in fear over Ah Long threat

BUKIT MERTAJAM: Two friends from Kampung Juru here are facing sleepless nights since last week after being harassed by an illegal money lender following a RM5,000 debt taken by an unknown individual.

In the first incident at about 7.30am on July 28, Tee Kow Siong, 40, was shocked when he found red paint splashed in front of the house he is staying with Ang Siau Phing, 27, and her two daughters, aged one and seven, after she lost her husband in June.

The paint also got the neighbour’s car.

“After checking the area, I found a paper with a name, Khor Song Hong, written on it, allegedly the person who borrowed the money.

“On the paper, the contact person of the Ah Long was also scribbled on it and I contacted him,” Teh told newsmen at Bukit Tengah assemblyman Gooi Hsiao Leung’s service centre here today.

Tee said during the conversation, he explained that he was not the person who had incurred the debt.

“The Ah Long refused to accept my explanation and asked me to pay the RM5,000 immediately or the house will be burnt down,” he added.

Tee said Ang, worried about her safety, decided to move to her mother’s house with her children.

“The Ah Long was not happy and resorted to splashing red paint on her car which was parked outside the mother’s house,” he related.

Tee then lodged a police report at the Bukit Tengah police station on July 30 following the incident.

Meanwhile, Gooi urged the relevant authority to take the necessary action against the irresponsible person as harassing is considered a serious offence.

He said that even though the amount owed was small and they could pay back any time, but they were not the ones who had borrowed the money in the first place.
