JASIN: An air conditioning maintenance worker landed himself in hot soup not only with the Police but also his elder brother for lodging a false robbery report.

It was done all because he feared the wrath of his elder brother after spending RM140 which was left in his safe-keeping.

Jasin District Police Chief, Deputy Superintendent Arshad Abu said the 24-year old made the false report accompanied by his brother, claiming that he was robbed by two masked robbers.

The suspect feared that he will receive a lashing from his elder brother, if he found out that he had spent the money.

“The suspect claimed that while je was at home at Taman Chempaka in Sungai Rambai when two men in mask entered his home and tied him up with adhesive tape and rope.

“The suspect also claimed that he was robbed out of RM140 by the duo,” he said.

Arshad said the suspect claimed that he managed to set himself free then explained what transpired to his borther, before a police report was lodged.

“However, further investigation revealed that the suspect had bought the adhesive tape and rope at a nearby shop.

“The suspect resorted to the act, as he had spent all the money left in his safe keeping,” he said.

Arshad said the suspect who had a previous drug offence was freed after his statement was taken.

“Throughout this year we had received three false reports claiming victim’s were robbed.

“We urge the people not to lodge such false police reports as it would create unnecessary panic.

“Those who lodge false reports would be investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code,” he said.
